The Nevyansk School is the benchmark of the Ural Old Believers’ icon painting. It is highly distinctive; has no comparables among other local schools; it is notable for its loyalty to Russian icon-painting traditions and high level of professionalism. The museum exhibition showcases the unique collection covering the entire life of the Nevyansk icon: from the early 18th century to the first third of the 20th century.
The Krasnoufimsk icon – an independent branch of the Ural Old Believers’ icon painting – has its own special place in the museum.
The museum also displays copper plastic artworks, hand-written and early-printed books, wall posters, old maps of mining and metallurgical Urals, etc. In addition to the local, indigenously Ural works, visitors can look at icons of the Russian North of the 16th – 17th centuries and wooden sculpture.
